Regenerating Bravura
As the world catches fire, we water it. Bravura is a 242 hectares restoration project on the edge of Barragem de Bravura, a vital freshwater reservoir in the Algarve.
We will do many things to make the alnd and water of this dry bioregion more resilient for years to come: creating natural water retention flows. produce honey. plant 300+ species of plants and trees, organise nature and creative retreats, and much more.
This winter we are renovating Casa Bravura.
The casa becomes the creative hub for Bravura with a ceramics studio for Brava Cerâmica, and rooms to stay.
Smell the scent of pine and rock rose, eat from the garden, and have access from the land to Barragem da Bravura on both sides.
Next to being surrounded by the lake, you can reach the Portugese west- and south coasts in 25 minutes.

Ceramics is one of humanity's oldest technologies. More than 25,000 years old. Long before modern irrigation, clay returned water to dry land for thousands of years.
To celebrate Portuguese heritage.
Portugal is home of Europe’s richest ceramic traditions. From terracotta to azulejos to contemporary design, it is woven into the culture in a way few countries can match. Yet surprisingly few places offer the opportunity to learn ceramics throughout the year.
Every participant makes two ollas. An olla (say: “oja”) is a traditional terracotta vessel designed to slowly release water beneath the soil. Before leaving, everyone plants one young tree on Bravura, and places one of olla nearby to slowly water the seedlings.
